Life Coaching

People with goals succeed because they know where they’re going. It’s that simple.

How do you want to live your life?

I work with high achieving business owners, c-suite executives, non profit leaders, emerging leaders, aspiring coaches, and others to help you live more intentionally.

I help you do the deep work necessary to chart your own course and live with authenticity and purpose, not the ways of the world.

Our work together is focused on developing your whole life: your spiritual life, your health, your marriage and/or family life, your friendships, your hobbies and passions, a life of adventure, your finances, and your work and career.

Life coaching is a one-on-one relationship focused on you and your growth

It is designed to help you become who you want to be and what you want to accomplish in your life, in light of God’s word and leading.

It is about you

Coaching is not reciprocal and that’s by design! Our relationship focus is your growth. The structure, tools, attention, and effort is singularly directed to ensure you have every opportunity to examine yourself and act on things that are most important to you.

It is disciplined, repetitive and focused

In your coaching, every minute matters. Expect to get right to work. While coaching is highly relational, it is not superficial. Standard schedule is a forty-five minute call every other week for a year. Accountability to discuss action steps is taken seriously. Calls begin after an onboarding experience that starts with a personal intake questionnaire, DISC (personal behavioral assessment) survey, and a two-hour kick-off call.

It is flexible, but directed

It is critical that the Holy Spirit directs the course of coaching. Alignment with his inspiration is the basis of true discipleship. However, we find that commitment to a process of clarifying questions, proactive action and clear coaching steps create a framework in which the Spirit can work. This moves coaching from being about good intentions and the hope of change, to real transformation.

It is safe and confidential

I consider it a joy and privilege to walk with you, no matter what. Coaching is a safe, confidential place for you to journey through life, whether the day brings crisis or joy.

It is ongoing

No one officially “arrives” in their coaching journey. I am still being coached because I need encouragement and to be counseled to make sure I stay true to God’s leading, not the culture’s detours.

Life Coaching is built upon a Life Plan that you will write.  What is a Life Plan?

A WRITTEN PLAN meant to guide your future

Businesses succeed because they have a written strategic plan, a written budget, and other written documents meant to guide their future.  Successful companies don’t wing it. And you shouldn’t either.

It contains well DEFINED GOALS AND OBJECTIVES for the most important priorities in your life

We often excel at our jobs because we have very well defined goals and objectives. In your Life Plan you will create an envisioned future for the most important relationships and priorities in your life, you will assess your current reality, and then create specific commitments meant to guide your actions to get you where you want to be.

It’s a BLUEPRINT for your life

If you were to build a new house, EVERYTHING is on the blueprints so you will know how the house is going to turn out BEFORE any dirt is moved on the property to start construction.  A Life Plan is like that, you have a real good idea how it’s going to turn out before you start.

The best PRIORITY FILTER ever

It’s the perfect filter by which to make decisions, small and large.  It clarifies the things that are important to you and allows you to see the big picture of your life and therefore makes it easier to make the critical life decisions we all face at times.

It's an ABUNDANT LIVING plan

This is not about finances but rather relational richness, full health and energy, deep connectedness with loved ones, etc.  We believe that God has provided us with abundant life, but many do not know how to intentionally live it out.

It's based on the book LIVING FORWARD

The Life Plan activity is based upon the book Living Forward by Daniel Harkavy and Michael Hyatt, which I will provide you. We have tailored the process to align with scripture and God’s leading.

Testimonials

Morris is a great coach who helps me come up with my own answers to challenges and holds me accountable. I have been doing goals and focusing on personal growth for almost 20 years now and feel that his coaching has led me to the most abundant life I have ever had. Thanks to Morris, I am closer than I ever have been to having balance in my life physically, spiritually, emotionally and relationally.

As I look at sports, anyone that is serious about winning has a coach or coaches to help them achieve their goals. As I transitioned from the sports world to the business world, I saw this approach to development was a hit or miss, especially as careers progressed and entered into the C-Suite. I have found that having a coach is necessary to stay on track with work and life goals. Morris Camp was the perfect man to help and encourage me to be the best businessman, husband, father, and leader. He is able to understand the challenges of leading a company, but encourages you in staying focused on what is truly most important.

FAQs

Who do you coach?

I work with high achieving business owners, c-suite executives, non profit leaders, emerging leaders,  aspiring coaches, and others to help them live more intentionally.

Will my information be kept confidential?

Absolutely. Honesty and vulnerability are prerequisites of change. What you share with me is confidential and anything delivered digitally remains protected for access by you and me alone.  Only my wife knows who I coach.  I don’t share client names, much less details, with anyone.  If I see you out in a social setting and someone asks how we know each other, I simply reply that we are friends.

How do we connect for coaching?

Coaching calls are delivered via phone (and Zoom if requested).  You call me.

What is the time commitment?

The standard coaching experience runs for one year and begins with a two hour introduction call. Thereafter, coaching calls are generally once every two weeks for 45 minutes. You also will need to set aside one full day for the development of a Life Plan. Over the course of your coaching, you should expect investment of time in following up on the action steps and activities that surface in our conversations.

What is the cost?

This is my ministry right now.  I receive no money for coaching.  I have charged $500/month for coaching in the past and have found that the joy I get from the relationship is far more important than the money I could earn. I may charge in the future, but this is where I am right now.

Coaching requires a one-time fee of $150 payable to OneThree12, not me. This covers the DISC behavioral profile, basic administrative onboarding expenses, coach training, and the book Living Forward by Daniel Harkavy and Michael Hyatt.

When do you coach?

I coach on Thursdays only. I only work with people who are a great fit and only take on a handful of clients.

Is coaching for everyone?

Bill Gates has said “Everyone needs a coach. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a basketball player, a tennis player, a gymnast, or a bridge player. We all need people who will give us feedback. That’s how we improve.”

But I have found that not many people are ready and willing to do the hard work that it takes to change. Everyone wants a different outcome, but not many are ready and willing to do the work.

Changing behavior is really hard, but you don’t have to do it alone. Are you ready and willing?

Are you a counselor, mentor, accountability partner, best friend, etc?

Coaching may reflect aspects of each of these roles, but it is not defined by them. Coaching is more comprehensive. My primary role is not to impart wisdom, advice, or be your cheerleader. It’s to draw out of you the vision that God is laying on your heart, help you see and hear God’s voice with respect to growth, and challenge you to put into practice what you’re hearing. It is also to hold you accountable to the action steps you believe God is calling you to take.

There will be times of celebration, mourning, challenging pushback and probing for clarity. All with the intent that you grow as a disciple.

Do you do financial coaching?

Muffin and I have worked with more than a 150 individuals and couples through numerous Financial Peace University (FPU) courses and one-on-one financial coaching. We have found that the group interactions supplemented with some individual conversations works best for everyone.  If you want to join our next class please reach out and let me know.  We would love to have you join us!  Plus it is free 🙂

Do you coach people that are not Christians?

Absolutely.  Just know that my faith is foundational to who I am and how I coach.  I do not impose my beliefs on anyone and will respect yours.

Are you certified?

Life coaching success is built around Holy Spirit sensitivity, prayerful communication, and intentional, thoughtful action. While there are ‘certified life coaches’, skills and approach are not universally defined.

I have completed a rigorous training course facilitated by my coach and by OneThree12. I have been coached for several years now and have coached others for almost three years.

What qualifies my leadership however, is that my deepest desires are to help others live intentionally.  This is my God-given calling in life and something that absorbs my mind and heart daily.  And I know from scripture and first-hand experience that God equips the called.

Why I like being coached

  • On my best days I am able to delude myself into thinking I am doing much better than I am.  On my worst days I’m a mess and believe I am incapable of any worthy outcome. My coach speaks truth into my life when I can’t get there myself and laughs at me when I think too highly of myself.
  • Changing behavior is hard.  Having a coach to walk with me as I form new habits and help hold me accountable makes it easier. I am not alone.
  • My coach asks me the hard questions.  It is not a superficial relationship.  I need someone around me to ask me about the tough things in my life.
  • Leaders are lonely and often have no one to confide in and talk to about the heavy things in their life.  Spouses serve this role, but often don’t have the same life experiences to be able to relate.
  • I want to learn from others, especially their mistakes and pitfalls along the journey.  My coach owned and ran a very large enterprise that eventually failed.  He also retired early at my age and is now 10 years older.
  • I share my whole life with my coach because our priorities in life are all intertwined.

How It Works

Schedule a Time to Talk

Our work together starts with a simple 30-min phone call.  You get to meet me, I get to meet you, you can ask me anything, and we will both figure out if our time together will be beneficial.  I only work with people who are a great fit and only take on a handful of clients.

Put It On The Calendar

Once we agree to work together, we schedule our 2-hour kick-off call. On our kick-off call we will schedule your bi-weekly 45-min calls.

Reach Your Goals

I will then email you a personal questionnaire and a DISC behavior assessment (so we know how to communicate better) for you to complete before our kick-off call.  Then the fun begins!
